What is “A Night on the Town”?
A Night on the Town is an annual event that provides a powerful opportunity for our community to learn about homelessness, raise awareness for our friends without an address, and experience a bit of what it might be like to be outside, overnight, in the hottest part of our humid Kentucky summers.
Box dwellers commit to spending 7 hours outside in a cardboard box, in Chestnut Park in Murray. Box dwellers come from all works of life: local government leaders, police officers, pastors, business leaders, students, grandmas and grandpas, moms and dads. Each box dweller is challenged to raising at least $1,000 to help the Murray Calloway County Homeless Coalition.
Community members can get involved with us by donating, signing up to be a box dweller, being a business sponsor, serving as an event volunteer, or donating a cake auction item! Email Jennifer at for more information.
THESE AMAZING COMMUNITY MEMBERS HAVE AGREED TO SERVE AS BOX DWELLERS FOR OUR 2020 EVENT!

At 6:00pm & 8:00pm, Holly Bloodworth will be reading children's books that highlight the topic of homelessness.
Silent Cake Auction
Monday, July 27-Thursday, July 30
This year, we are doing things a little differently. First, the cake auction will be held on Facebook as a silent auction. people will be asked to bid in the comments! Also, we are asking community members who donate cakes to purchase them from local businesses/bakeries. This will help keep people safe and healthy as well as help support our local businesses as they bounce back from the effects of the quarantine. Let us know if you'd be willing to donate a cake. Here are some local businesses who make cakes (or pies):
The Cake Lady
Due to the pandemic, we will not be able to have the tournament at the "A Night on the Town" event. Instead, we have rescheduled the event for September 26 when it will be a safer time to gather. The tournament will be held at Chestnut Park. Check back for more details!
NOTE: THESE TEAMS ARE NEEDED DURING A TYPICAL YEAR OF "A NIGHT ON THE TOWN." UNFORTUNATELY, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO UTILIZE THESE TEAMS AS OUR EVENT HAS BEEN SCALED DOWN TO ACCOMMODATE STATE AND HEALTH DEPARTMENT REGULATIONS DURING THE PANDEMIC.
